Workplace Violence: Self Defense & Safety in the Hour for Practitioners
Faculty: Wilma J. Peeples MSSW/LCSW/LMFT/BCD

Workplace violence has emerged as an important safety and health issue across the country. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has encouraged the work place to establish safe and healthful working environments for workers. Reportedly, the present statistics do not capture the full impact of workplace violence in the United States. We do not know the full financial and psychological costs of assault from injuries, lost work time, and restricted duty. But, the estimate is reportedly in the millions of dollars for financial cost. This is an excellent course for any organization, with particular emphasis on human/social service organizations/agencies, including the private clinical practice. These organizations/agencies and businesses should address the need to develop appropriate protocols and implement training for all personnel who have direct or indirect contact with clients/patients/customers and their significant others.
